A long-term digital solution for a long-term care facility.
Improving the navigability of a broad suite of tools
Developers often launch web apps hastily and without much scope for scalability. In some ways, this makes sense. Starting small and testing your product on users as soon as possible is probably the best way to prove the viability of a concept.
However, many app designers forget to consider usability as their app grows and developers continue to add new features. This problem affected the Qola team, whose unwieldy number of pages and tools had become very difficult to navigate.
To combat the issue, we let the Qola team know that they would have to start prioritizing the experiences of their users. What should they be feeling while interacting with particular touchpoints? Why was the original app so difficult to use? Were users digitally savvy, or did they require extra guidance? Answering such questions was vital to the success of Qola’s project.
Building a winning app from scratch
The first thing we noticed was that Qola’s application contained hundreds of modals and pages of information. These pages detailed everything from breakfast attendance rosters to confidential data about residents and their families.
Our job, therefore, was to ensure that we did not neglect any page or interaction data during the redesign. Failure to incorporate vital information about residents’ timetables or healthcare records could seriously impact the running of facilities that relied on Qola. To ensure we didn’t disappoint care homes or residents, we employed a rigorous data architecture program. We meticulously sorted every piece of information by page, category, and subcategory.
After collating this information, we restructured the app and made it scalable. As such, Qola could continue to expand without having to generate new tech issues.
USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
Forget training – now users can glide through Qola’s app with ease
Our most important challenge in accepting this project was to enhance Qola’s user experience. Ideally, users should be able to reach and input information quickly and with minimal effort.
In making the app more usable, Qola could also slash onboarding costs for new customers and avoid having to deliver time-consuming training sessions. Thanks to our efforts, Qola’s platform is now super easy to use, giving users access to intuitive timetables, confidential information, and more without compromising user safety and security.
Embodying chic functionality
To add the finishing touches to our project, we came up with a gorgeous purple interface design for the Qola app. The theme for our wireframes is timeless and accessible, ensuring that users look forward to logging in and feel confident in using Qola’s services.
